I have enjoyed creating art ever since I was a child. When I was ten years old, I was chosen as the representative from my grade school to attend classes at the Kansas City Art Institute. In high school, I was selected to the National Art Honor Society. As an adult, I have had many opportunities to develop my art and expand my horizons.
I have painted in many different mediums and especially enjoy combining different mediums and creating collages. My favorite subjects are plants and fanciful animals. In many recent works I combine watercolor and Sumi ink on crumpled masa paper which I submerge in water. These paintings have an abstract quality and a batik-like look. Painting in this way is fun. It invites me to use my imagination to make the most of what traditionally I might have viewed as mistakes.
Currently I am fortunate to exhibit and sell my art in California and in Hawaii. I intend to continue enriching my life and my art by taking workshops and experimenting with new tools and techniques which challenge my skills and my imagination. |
