I was born in the Pacific Islands and brought up in Washington, D.C. I received a BFA and an MFA from the University of Arizona. After living in Europe for several years I moved to California and now have a studio in San Mateo.
I approach my art without an agenda. I wish for mistakes to lead and teach me of new places and ideas. I strive to balance marks that celebrate freshness and naivety with deliberateness and skill. I like to create areas in focus and detail while others are left raw and undisturbed. My images reveal social and or political consciousness through personal iconography and autobiographical events. My paintings have been described as: “whimsical yet twisted.” I like that. |
