I don’t think I make photographs as much as I find them. Images pop out at me almost everywhere I go. Light and shadow catch my eye and form compositions that inspire me. Although I love rural scenes, beautiful landscapes and busy city streets, I often find images when I’m out driving around on errands, walking the dog or in my house. Even the most mundane objects can be transformed into dynamic compositions of shape, color and texture. Finding the abstract in the concrete and creating something extraordinary from the ordinary is very satisfying. It wasn’t until after I graduated from college with a degree in education that I discovered photography. I was mesmerized while watching a friends’ slide show and knew it was something I had to do. A few years later I was enrolled in the photography program at Montana State University and have been taking pictures ever since. Although I have worked in many fields of photography including commercial, wedding and landscape, I now devote the rest of my picture taking to portrait photography. I love capturing the true essence and beauty of a person. |
