Printmaking and Mixed Media
| Weaving Earth & Sky |
I believe that art, beauty, and artists are like endangered species in the 21st century, yet they have the power to transform and heal our individual lives, society, and the world. In 1998 I began to study monotype printing and continue to work in this medium and be surprised by its inherent spontaneity. I also enjoy adding elements to the print, such as found objects, hand-made papers, and fabric to create more layers and texture. A delicate, yet tenacious thread weaves through all of my work, whether it is my monotype prints, mixed media, hand-made paper, artist books, or ritual. In 2000, I earned my Master’s degree in Arts and Consciousness from John F. Kennedy University. In 2002, I was awarded an artist grant from the Peninsula Community Foundation, which allowed me to have my first solo art show of monotypes. As a creative arts facilitator, I design and facilitate customized ceremonies for individuals, couples, and groups facing life transitions such as birthdays, marriages, memorials, new homes, etc. I also work with adults, children, and groups using art and ritual for healing and transformation. My artwork connects me to the deepest part of myself and the intrinsic beauty and mystery of the universe. I appreciate the opportunity to share it with you. |
