My grandmother Ruth lived on a farm in the Missouri Ozarks and the women of my family spent summers there. I made mud pies in her yard and sold them for a nickel. I'm still doing that! To borrow a quote:

"I'm a folk potter; I make pots for folks."

My work is functional stoneware. Each piece is hand thrown on the potter's wheel and is distinct. I use seashells to decorate the surfaces with movement or distortion of the shapes. It's important to see the rhythm of the clay, so my glazes are developed to bring life to each form through color and translucency.

I am a member of the Association of Clay and Glass Artists and teach at the Palo Alto Art Center and Peninsula School.
